How to Create a Yellow Submarine Icon with Gradient Meshes
Check out my latest Illustrator tutorial on Vectortuts+! How to Create a Yellow Submarine Icon with Gradient Meshes.

This is a Plus tutorial so you need to be a subscriber to follow it. I’ll just post here some of the public screenshots from the website. Hope you like it! The tecniques are quite involved: gradient meshes for the shading, pattern brushes for the rivets and opacity masks for the shadows. Quite a lot of work but extremely fun to do.
Thanks to Sean Hodge, the editor of Vectortuts+, for allowing me to create such an interesting illustration!
If you liked the screenshots why not go to Vectortuts+ and check out the full tutorial? Also take a look at my previous tutorial if you’re into vector icons.

Really awesome looking illustration buddy. Specially, that gradient on the yellow ellipse to make it look like a 3D submarine… Really impressive stuff ;) Keep it up!
Wow man, amazing work. Congratz!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
I’ve used this picture for a picture dictionary project for school! i love drawing anime so it was kinda hard for me… I’m not used to drawing realistic things like this. But, who ever did this drawing is AWESOME at drawing!!! Thank you you for letting me use this!
