Pixel Design Museum
Another personal project from my pixel art days.
During my pixel art phase I noticed that most artworks out there were either videogame sprites and mockups in 2D/fake 3D or unnamed objects and locations rendered in the popular isometric style (see eBoy).
Since my background is in architecture, interior and product design (having studied at Politecnico di Milano and Bauhaus universities) I decided to approach isometric pixel art with my own spin, recreating designer’s chairs and objects. Here’s what came out of that experiment:

If you’re a product designer you instantly recognized these wonderful objects. They are all landmarks in the history of product design, created by the masters: Michael Thonet, Verner Panton, Arne Jacobsen, Frank O. Gehry, Joe Colombo, Charles Mackintosh, Bruno Munari, Achille Castiglioni, Alvar Aalto, Vico Magistretti, Le Corbusier, Richard Sapper, Philippe Starck…
I have a book recommendation for all those interested in product design:
1000 Chairs (Taschen 25)
It’s a great photographic compendium with essential liner notes and designer biographies and it makes for a great coffee table book.
I hope you liked this digression into pixel art. Back to icon design and illustration now!

That’s cool, you gotta love pixel art!
Thank you for yet another unusual and useful post.
Thanks Iva! If you think this post is unusual you better get ready for the next one :-)
Pixel art is like evergreen :) How you been buddy?
Hey! I’ve seen better days (and more sun) but I’m ok. How about you?
Semester examinations are killing me.. other than that am good :) Am planning a lot to do in this vacation.. work wise.. First of all, improve my site usability and design heheh
Are these icons free to use? I could see using them on web pages but wonder about trademark/copyright issues. I think you have developed some very nice collections of icons that could enhance my website. Very nice.
You want to use icons from my own portfolio?
Only the Freebies are free and for personal use only.
I like to share but there’s a limit.
